Some tips for your curly hair.

Today, we’re sharing our top three tips for caring for your curls at home to keep them looking on point for when the world goes back to normal…whenever that’ll be!

Tip 1: Put down the scissors…and the dye:

Listen, we totally understand that it can be hard not to play around with your hair, Trust us. Curly hair is special, which means it needs to be cut and colored by a professional that specializes in curls. Cutting your own curly hair can lead to weird layers that will take forever to grow out and coloring your own hair can result in one word—damage. Not only will you most likely regret your decision in the long run, but corrective cuts and color services are oftentimes more expensive than a regular cut and color! So next time you’re tempted to take a trip to your local beauty supply store, think about your curls…and your wallet.

Tip 2: Up your deep conditioning game:

We all know that we’re supposed to deep condition our hair at least twice a month, right? Well, now that we have all the time in the world, let’s up that even more! Curly hair can get dehydrated quickly, especially with the cooler weather rolling in so try deep conditioning at least once a week to combat dryness. Plus, you can use deep conditioning as an excuse to have a full-blown self-care day! Not sure what deep conditioner will work for you? We got you. Melt Into Moisture is perfect for anyone who is dealing with major dryness and dehydration. Use any hair mask with a protein treatment to help strengthen your hair.

Tip 3: Use this time to experiment and perfect your routine:

A lot of curlies are still working to perfect their styling routine by finding the best products and techniques to work for their curl type. If this sounds like you, now is the perfect time to nail down your routine! Don’t be afraid to play around with different products and application methods to find the best routine for you. Remember, curly hair is never one-size-fits-all so while it’s easy to fall into the trap of following someone else’s routine, that doesn’t mean it’ll work for you! You can also use this time to try out different updos and protective styles so that when you are able to leave the house again, you’ll have a ton of options to play around with!
